Indian diaspora will be cheering this blissful announcement of summer internship program to Washington-based Indian students. Around 60 summer internships positions to the students studying in the premier international universities of America will be provided. This will be a golden opportunity for the US-based Indian students to come closer to the culture of their forefathers. This initiative is highly appreciable as it will help in strengthening the bond between Indian economy as well as culture and Indian diaspora in Washington.
The foretold decision was taken in a very crucial meeting in which India’s OIFC (Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) took part. It was the joint meet in which members of CII and OIFC tabled many issues and initiatives for the welfare of NRIs. It was the occasion of when Regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Los Angeles was celebrated in the month of Novemver. Now, the execution of the taken decision is due which will happen in the upcoming summer season.
There are nearly 2-dozen top corporates who showed interest in this internship program for NRI students. Around 23 topnotch entities of the corporate world in India, including TATA channels, Apollo hospitals, Blue Star, Flipkart, Forbes Marshall,Godrej, Infosys, Kirloskar Brothers , TATA Consultancy Services, TATA International, TATA Trust, Trent and Wipro, have opened their gates for them.
The initiative is crafted as India Corporate Internship Initiative for students pursuing post-graduation in management, engineering and science & technology. The internship will last for 2 to 6 months in the summer season in the year 2016. The ultimate motive of this initiative is to expose global work culture flourishing in India. This will enable the potential workforce of NRI students to become adapt to multi-culture environment. This will enhance connectivity of India with them and their roots will go strong. It will prove as an unprecedented platform to sophisticate their portfolio and add value to their work that will solidify while meeting daunting challenges of working in diverse domains like Aerodynamics, Automotive, Banking & financial services, Healthcare, Incubation centres for Indian beginners, IT (software & services), Manufacturing (heavy engineering, consumer durables, infrastructure, etc.), Power (distribution & systems) Retail & e-commerce, Social Enterprises, etc..
