The most worrisome is Tax that can snatch your sound sleep at night. Even, you can be gripped in nightmare of those taxes. And who knows, the very next day may be your day in jail for not paying tax!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>What\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.services2nri.com\/\"><strong>legal NRI services<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0state if you earn more than the tax free income, then you are legally bound to pay it. Migrated Indians tend to go for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.services2nri.com\/blog\/nris-invest-indian-real-estate\/\"><strong>NRI investment in real estates<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0while making retirement plans.<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Before rushing for such payment, let I acknowledge you who is considered as an NRI because then only, you can decide whether to pay it or not as per Income Tax Act (for NRIs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Identify, if you are an NRI:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Income Tax Act, an NRI is one who \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stays for 182 days in India<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stays for less than 182 days but more than 60 days in India. Plus, 365 or more days were spent in previous four years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any Indian who spent 182 days in India although doing job abroad, Or, one of the crew on an Indian ship, Or, the visitor of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Having learnt aforementioned facts, if you conclude yourself as an NRI, you have to disclose your income, assets and investment first. This is mandatory under Foreign Income and Schedule FA of India\u2019s income tax act.
